We realize that the world extends beyond our church doors and are grateful to have the opportunity to help others in our immediate community and beyond. In addition to our missionaries, we reach out and give back in the following ways.

Easter Egg Hunt

If you have ever been near HPC eight days before Easter, no words can adequately describe what you will see. Over two thousand eggs "hidden" on the church grounds and approximately 200 anxious children and parents awaiting the start of the scramble. It's an annual event for the community followed by a hot dog lunch and story. It's our way of sharing this meaningful holiday and the love of God with the children and parents of our community and we thank our generous congregation and area businesses for their faithful support of this event.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Educating children about God, His Word and His love are extremely important to us. Every year we have the unique opportunity to interact with children on their level and teach them about God. It is unique each year because the mix of children are different and the themes are different but the message is the same. This year we traveled to Mount Everest and taught the children how to conquer challenges with God's Mighty Power. It is a joy to teach these children their enthusiam and excitement for God is very contagious!

Crozer Chester Medical Center

If you know anyone who has had a newborn at Crozer Chester Medical Center and received a handmade hat for the baby , there is a chance that hat was made at Holmes Church. Holmes Church is one of four churches who make and donate hats for newborns. Our Sewing/Knitting group donates approximately 500 hats every year. It is our way of showing our love, joy and concern  for this new life. The group consists of church and community members so if you would like to use your talents to impact a baby, please stop by the church or call the church office.

Loaves and Fishes

Every November, we hold a food drive to support our local food bank-Loaves and Fishes, located in  Prospect Park. We are blessed to be able to contribute to their mission and to aid the local community.

Located in Holmes, Pathways is one of the Greater Philadelphia Region’s foremost providers of residential and community-based services for women, children and families. Each year over 4,500 women, children and families benefit from job training and employment assistance; as well as outreach and residential programs as they move along the path to self-sufficiency.

Holmes Church connects with  Pathways twice a year for two very special projects designed to support children and families.

From mid July to mid August the Sewing/Knitting group at Holmes Church kicks off their School Kit Project. During this time backpacks and school supplies are collected for the less fortunate children within the Pathways organization. Every year the generosity of the congregation  project is an overwhelming success collecting It's our way of helping children start the school year off with the supplies they need to assist their learning.

From mid November until mid December our Deacons run their Adopt A Family project.  In this endeavor, Holmes Church adopts a less fortunate family through the Pathways organization and attempts to fulfill their wishes for basic necessities for Christmas. It is the meaning of Christmas for us-sharing God's blessings and love with others.

Shriners Hospital for Children

Shriner's Hospital provides cost free healthcare to children. We aid in this service to parents by collecting aluminum tabs which are turned in for money to support this practice.  This small practice decreases the financial stress of having an ill child which has a  big impact on the health of the child and the family.
